Our inductive proximity sensors from Telemecanique Sensors (formerly known as OsiSense XS) are designed exclusively for detecting metal objects up to 60mm. They consist mainly of an oscillator, whose windings form the sensing face. An alternating magnetic field is generated in front of these windings.
Our capacitive sensors from Telemecanique Sensors (formerly known as OsiSense XT) are designed for non-contact detection of any material up to 20mm, regardless of the material type or conductivity (including metals, minerals, wood, plastic, glass, cardboard, leather, ceramic, fluids, and more).
Product Series
When a metal object enters the sensor’s magnetic field, it triggers induced currents that create an additional load, halting the oscillations. This action activates the output driver, which then generates a normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) signal, depending on the sensor type.
Our inductive sensors are available in both flush and non-flush (shielded or unshielded) configurations, with options for short and long body designs, and in PNP and NPN versions, ensuring compatibility with PLCs and controllers worldwide. Additionally, we offer 2-wire DC, AC, and AC/DC versions, making these sensors suitable for use as limit switches in various applications.
Capacitive proximity sensors detect objects based on their ability to hold an electric charge. These sensors work by applying voltage to a sensing area and measuring shifts in a property known as capacitance—the capacity of an object to retain electrical charge. Since both conductive and non-conductive materials can hold charges, capacitive sensors can effectively detect nearly any type of object.
